Este lunes 11 de enero también se dan a conocer los ganadores de los premios Gotham de cine independiente que concede la IFP (Independent Feature Project) que el año pasado premió como mejor película "Historia de un matrimonio". Este año el film más nominado es "First cow" con cuatro nominaciones y creo que los mejores posicionados para ganar el premio más importante son "Nomadland" que tiene posibilidades de ganar como mejor película (aunque ya ganó este premio el anterior film de Chloe Zhao "The rider") y no figura como mejor guion, y el dirigido por Keith Richards que puede obtener el de mejor guion. Cabe apuntar que todos los títulos candidatos a mejor largometraje están dirigidos por directoras y las ausencias de nombres como los actores Viola Davis, Steven Yeun y la directora debutante Regina King.
Acerca de los apartados de interpretación opto por Riz Ahmed y Frances McDormand como los premiados, aunque son fuertes candidatos Chadwick Boseman y Yuh-Jung Youn.
Sobre las categorías de revelación, como mejor director me decanto por el de "Saint Frances" si bien hay otros buenos candidatos como los de "Swallow" y "Miss Juneteenth" y como intérprete a Sidney Flanigan pero no hay que descartar a Kingsley Ben-Adir.
Por lo que respecta a otros apartados importantes, como mejor largometraje de habla no inglesa destaca el italiano "Martin Eden" aunque también el brasileño "Bacurau" y el irlandés "Wolfwalkers", y como mejor documental apuesto por "Time" a pesar de que hay otros interesantes como "City Hall".
Para terminar, en las categorías de series revelación, en formato corto opto por "Work in progress" aunque también merecería ganar "Podría destruirte", mientras que en formato largo "Watchmen", si bien también sobresale "Unorthodox".
