Hoy lunes día 18 de enero es importante en la temporada de premios. Aparte de conocer el anuncio de las nominaciones a los premios Goya en que los films "Adú", "Las niñas", "Akelarre" y "La boda de Rosa" son los más nominados por este orden, también se dan a conocer dos premios de la crítica estadounidense. Uno son los que concede la sociedad de críticos de Houston. El año pasado fue reconocida la película "Parásitos". En la presente edición "Minari" es la más nominada con siete menciones. Aunque el film de Lee Isaac Chung tiene posibilidades de ser premiado, apuesto por "Nomadland" en las categorías principales de mejor largometraje y dirección, aunque quizás en mejor guion tiene más opciones "Una joven prometedora". Cabe apuntar que "First cow" no figura en apartados principales por esta asociación.
Por lo que respecta a los reconocimientos de actuación, los favoritos pueden ser Chadwick Boseman, Frances McDormand, Leslie Odom Jr. y Youn Yuh Yung, aunque no hay que descartar para nada como premiados a Riz Ahmed, Carey Mulligan, Paul Raci y Maria Bakalova.
En cuanto a otros apartados importantes, el film "Soul" puede ser reconocido en mejor largometraje de animación y mejor música, el danés "Another round" como mejor película de habla no inglesa y "Dick Johnson is dead" en mejor documental, si bien hay que tener en cuenta a "Wolfwalkers", el brasileño "Bacurau" o "Time" en sus respectivas categorías.
Además, en la crítica de Houston, "Tenet" merecería ser premiado como mejor coordinación de especialistas, ""The vast of night" como mejor film independiente texano (aunque hay otros títulos estimables como "Miss Juneteeth) y la miniserie "Small Axe" coomo mejor logro cinematográfico.
