Hoy también se celebra la gala de entrega de los premios Annie a las mejores películas de animación del año. Estos galardones nacieron en 1992 y a lo largo de su historia han premiado como mejor película títulos como "Aladdin", "El gigante de hierro", "Wallace y Gromit: la maldición de las verduras", "Del revés" y "Zootrópolis" el año pasado.
En la presente edición, las películas más nominadas son "Coco" de Lee Unkrich y Adrián Molina con 13 nominaciones y "The breadwinner" de Nora Twomey con diez. En un año sin algunas grandes películas de animación destacadas, lo más probable es que gane algunos premios "Coco" (que seguramente ganará el Oscar) en categorías importantes como mejor película, dirección, guion y también en apartados técnicos como música. En cuanto a mejor film animado independiente, destacan el polaco "Loving Vincent" y el irlandés "The breadwinner" y creo que se lo merece más este último.
